1660-00-859-1702 An item which separates free moisture or water vapor from the compressed airstream in an aircraft air conditioning system after it is discharged from a cooling turbine. Normally consists of a cylindrical or oval shaped shell with an inlet and outlet port and a drain port, a cylindrical, rectangular or conical shape condenser, and a device to collect the moisture after it leaves the condenser. May include an internal bypass valve. Generally consists of two types: (1) the condenser-eliminator type which collects the moisture on a tubular type core after it leaves the condenser and runs to the bottom and drains out; (2) the swirl type causing the moist air to swirl rapidly as it leaves the condenser throwing the moisture against the shell where it collects and runs down to drain.
